The March 18 Movement was named in order to honor Omid Reza Mirsayafi, who on that date in 2009 became the first blogger to die in prison. Each March 18 from now on shall stand as a day of memorial to Omid and to all the innocents he represents. Bloggers should not be killed, neither by execution nor neglect, for what they have written. We also believe in free speech as a human right, not a function of culture or politics, and believe it to be a necessity for building and maintaining functional societies.Website: http://www.March18.orgTwitter: http://www.twitter.com/OR318Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/OR318Music: Heliosphan by Aphex Twin Less

Mar 15, 2010 - so says another person used to getting their way through violence I guess... you have a pretty non-epic understanding of free speech, but maybe you're right, its just better to "hit" someone when they say something you disagree with
TyWalkerMusic Says:
Mar 15, 2010 - @cometkiteno your comment is case in point. All I'm saying is this: yes everyone has the right to free speech, but that doesn't mean that it should be ok for people to just go around say anything to anybody and not expect a corresponding reaction. If you decide to come out of nowhere and insult someone, don't be surprised when they haul off and knock you into next week.As one of my friends once said, "TALK SH*T, GET HIT!"

Mar 14, 2010 - Come to iemoteDOTappspotDOTcom on March 18 to exercise you right to freedom of speech!
jefftschwartz Says:
Mar 14, 2010 - It is my goal to have i-Emote @ i-emoteDOTappspotDOTcom in beta and fully functional for the March 18 Movement. Our right to express ourselves isn't solely an American right. It is the right of all human beings. On March 18 i-emote @ i-emoteDOTappspotDOTcom will provide a platform allowing all to engage in that right. Please join us on March 18 to celebrate your fortune for living in a society that cherishes that right and to express your outrage that so many people in the world don't.

Mar 13, 2010 - I wasn't saying that we shouldn't fight for what is right with our fists and guns i was saying that with out the support of our like minded comrades then we are just one guy with a riffle
Whistt Says:
Mar 12, 2010 - I think in order to honor this one blogger must kill himself on this day.If the chosen blogger does not do so, the other bloggers must do the task and kill him/her themselves.
jpatch3 Says:
Mar 12, 2010 - Also a good point. I'm not for starting a fight just for finishing it.

cometkite Says:
Mar 12, 2010 - That's a good point (except WWI, that had little to do with imperialism and more to do with political alliances). But there are counterexamples too. It was ideas, not guns, that forced the militarily superior U.S. to withdraw from the Vietnam War. Violence has so far failed to bring peace to the Middle East. And many countries in Africa are plagued by repeated violent overthrows of government. Defensive violence is sometimes necessary, but violence as a way to conduct politics is insane.
jpatch3 Says:
Mar 12, 2010 - It is the soldier, not the reporter,Who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet,Who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer,Who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the soldier,Who salutes the flag,Who serves beneath the flag,And whose coffin is draped by the flag,Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
jpatch3 Says:
Mar 12, 2010 - Violence solved the question of American independence, ended slavery, European Imperialism(WW1), European Fascism and Japanese Imperialism WW2. Do you think you could have accomplished all that on a blog?

Mar 12, 2010 - Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty! - ProverbsAccept Jesus as your Lord and savior - Pray this - "Jesus, Lord of Nazareth, come into my heart and take control of my life so that I may live my life thru you." Now watch the miracles start to happen in your life and those who you pray for in the name of Jesus, Lord of Nazareth - "Give to those who beg you, love those who hate you, Pray for your enemy" - Jesus
